Dusty Miller

Senecio cineraria

Native to the Mediterranean

Plant Type: Annual

Color: Green/Silvery Grey

Sun: Full Sun

Height: 8-18"

Spread: 9-12"

Deer Resistance: This plant is supposed to be resistant to deer due to its texture, but in some areas where deer have had to adapt to a more rural setting, it’s possible the plant will be disturbed. If deer are a problem in your area, try mixing plants in an English-garden style where plants that are highly deer resistant are growing along side those that are less resistant to deer and other wildlife.

Pollinators: Bees and other pollinators are attracted to flowering dusty miller.

Drought Tolerant: Yes

Cut & Come Again: Dusty miller takes a little longer to regenerate, but if it is pruned or harvested for the vase, it will replenish if watered and fertilized regularly.

Other Comments: Dusty miller is a really beautiful addition to any arrangement. It is often considered a tender perennial, so if it’s moved inside or undercover in the winter, it can survive and thrive the following year.
